The Salford Museum and Art Gallery is a testament to Salfords importance in our industrial and social history and its rivalry to its bigger brother, Manchester, a few miles down the road. Located in a huge and imposing red brick building it is full of interesting paintings, including some big ticket Lowrys, static displays, modern art and a reconstruction of a Victorian street (Lark Hill Place) using actual shop frontages salvaged as most of the old Salford was lost to development. The cafe serves delicious coffee and snacks at reasonable prices and its a pleasure to spend time there with the good views it has of Peel Park.

The gallery and museum itself is lovely and staff are very pleasant, polite and helpful. Car park is small and expensive. There is a cafe in the museum which is also expensive. Most of the cafe staff are lovely, polite and helpful but a couple are abrupt and rude. The museum also sells hand crafted gifts etc which are lovely, if a little expensive. Would recommend a visit but don't expect to spend more than a couple of hours in the museum and art gallery as it is only small.Loos are always immaculate.

Love this place. Browse and browse the artworks, step back into the sights and smells of Victorian Britain and unwind deliciously with scrumptious cake, heartwarming soup, a perfect pot of tea or fresh filter coffee. There's parking...what you waiting for!

A good place to visit with young kids. In Victoria gallery there is working model of Solar System, a must see.A small cafe is also there with a shopping gallery both are enjoyable too.Place has public parking and restrooms. A good place to visit for half a day's outing plan.

I visit this place quite often, as I work near by. Extremely pleasant place for a day out. If youre looking to go back in time and get a good sense of life in Manchester in Victorian times, this is the place to visit. Cafe is also worth trying out for coffee and tea and their scrumptious cakes!! The museum shop offers some great little ideas for gifts. Definitely worth a visit!
